  • Hello Chris, I am developing an application in python, is a customer who will authenticate and manipulate users in OpenLDAP, I used your tutorial to configure my OpenLDAP server, congratulations for the post is very good.
As I am new to LDAP my doubt is if I can use authentication via shoadowAccout and also the ppolicy or is it only possible to use one. Another doubt is if I use the shoadowAccout validations should be done by the client? the server does not validate eg if the User is expired.

  • Hi Avner,

You can use ppolicy in addition to a shadowAccount. From memory the user needs to have a policy applied to their account and you need to have populated the ldap database with the default policy. You might need to read up on applying ppolicy and see if someone has some examples..
